November 19 Meeting – (Postponed from November 12) Mel E. Smith – Divorce Records in Connecticut

IMPORTANT! The November meeting has been postponed to November 19 due to the speaker’s family emergency.

The Naugatuck Valley Genealogy Club will meet on Zoom on Saturday, November 19, at 10:30 a.m. Following a brief business meeting, Mel E. Smith will be presenting “The 4th Vital Record – Divorce Records in Connecticut.”

Mel is a reference librarian in the History & Genealogy Unit of the Connecticut State Library, where he has spent the last twenty-five plus years helping people find their ancestors. He has worked extensively with Connecticut primary source records and has created many unique databases that showcase these materials to the public.  He was featured in the first season of “Who Do You Think You Are?” aiding actor Matthew Broderick in finding his Connecticut heritage, which led to a long-lost Civil War ancestor!

There is no charge for the meeting, which is scheduled as a hybrid of Zoom and In-Person at the Prospect Library (if at least 12 members respond to the message that they would like an in person meeting).

Members will receive email invitations to the Zoom meeting. Non-members can request an invitation by emailing their full name, address, telephone number and email address to nvgcguestz2020@gmail.com no later than November 15. Space is limited.
